Years ago, before cable television and the internet, other forms of mass entertainment — sitcoms, dramas and the nightly news — also drew enormous audiences. Few do today, and it’s only a modest exaggeration to say that football is Mainstream American Culture

Each Super Bowl alcohol commercial has been for Anheuser since 1989.-Busch product. This is all changing today. The company that owns Budweiser gave up the exclusive rights to advertise last summer. Now, there are many competitors. Commercials will feature Miller Light, Coors Light, Heineken and Coors Light for the first-time. Spirits such as Rémy Martin and Crown Royal will also be in the mix. Still, Anheuser-Busch is the company that will spend most advertising dollars this year.
