President Biden and Jill Biden welcomed each other. French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife at The White House on Thursday — the first State visit in the Biden administration — as the two long-time allies plan to discuss a number of sensitive issues, including the war in Ukraine, China’s aggression and climate policy.

Biden, 80, and Macron, 44, are scheduled to sit down in the Oval Office for a bilateral discussion at 10:00 a.m., followed by a joint press conference at 11:45 a.m.

Thursday night will see a State Dinner.

This is President Macron’s second State Visit to Washington, D.C.

For Macron, it’s his second State visit to Washington, D.C., since taking office in 2017 – he met with former President Donald Trump November 2018.

Biden and a contingent of administration officials gathered on the South Lawn as part of the pomp-filled ceremony greeting Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron.
