Joy Sunday It makes a big impact on Netflix’s new series “Wednesday.” She stars as Bianca BarclayNevermore Academy’s most well-known girl, aka, who is in a fight with Jenna Ortega, the Addams family patriarch. Things change. Bianca These are more difficult than they seem. on The surface.

Working on The show was a true dream come true. SundayIt was great to get to work with Catherine Zeta-Jones (Morticia Addams). “Catherine was basically the first time I ever looked at someone and said, ‘I want her job,'” Sunday Tells POPSUGAR “It was rewinding to me as a 10-year-old, watching ‘Chicago’ on my family’s square desktop. And all I remember is just being so captivated by her. There was no screen that was too small for her.” Zeta-Jones was a real person. “such a reaffirming experience,” In the sense that you know “she was my inspiration and now I get to be with my inspiration,” Sunday says. “And we have the same birthday and everything, so it was just really beautiful to get to be with her on set.”

Sunday felt honored in general to work with a cast of veterans who play the adults in the series, including Christina Ricci, Gwendoline Christie, and Luis Guzmán. “Christina was just so warm and so receptive,” She recalls. “And Gwendoline is just such a treat to have around, and really just the kindest, warmest person. And Luis is also just hilarious. . . . It was such an honor to be able to work with them, and to feel like they saw me as an equal, even though they have so much experience.”

Sunday Her manager sent her a five-minute voice memo informing her about the audition. Despite the length and complexity of the message, her boss failed to mention that Tim Burton was involved. “You see Tim Burton in your email, you’re like, ‘Okay, I’m not going to get this,'” Sunday says. She was determined to audition. “When I moved forward [in the audition process], I was freaking out, shaking in my bones,” She keeps it all in her mind. “I got to meet Tim over Zoom, and did the audition, shaking everywhere from the neck down.”

“Wednesday,” She describes it as the perfect marriage of her love for horror, dry humor, and a passion for playing the role. “spirited” “singular” Bianca. “I really fell in love with her from day one,” She says. Sunday I loved the challenges presented by BiancaThe siren powers of’s. “It’s a lot of weight for a teenager to handle,” She elaborates. “She’s trying to genuinely connect with people, but she knows that they know she has this power to manipulate them. And so just trying to be herself can be a challenge, because people are kind of unwilling.” Sunday It has “a lot of empathy” For her character and tried to infuse “so much softness” into her performance.

Nevermore is an institution that teaches English. “outcasts,” It is not exactly the same as a high school. Sunday She says that it is very similar to the high school for arts she attended. She says she was still “so far from being popular” During her time at high school. “It is going to be a surprise for a lot of people from my high school to see me playing this role,” She jokes. She does however share one thing with her. Bianca The truth is that both of them worry about how other people perceive them. “I’ve always wanted to protect myself by being the best that I could be,” She elaborates. “I think that’s why I connect to Bianca so deeply.”

What happened the last day? on The “Wednesday” set like?

The last day on set was really a buildup, because I think for a lot of people, the filming experience — especially because of being far away from home — was really tough. It was almost like the final scene when we reached the end of the day. “Fresh Prince,” He is standing in an empty room, looking around. “Wow, I’ve got to leave.” That’s how it felt to be there. on It’s a good day.

Although only a few people were able to make it, everyone came together to say goodbyes, give hugs, and to give gifts. It was a beautiful moment of realizing what we had accomplished together, and all that we had experienced. It was a wonderful day, and it was very celebratory. However, it was also a bit solemn as we kind of left this world, which had been constructed for us, behind.

I got a new bucket cap. I’ve been collecting bucket caps, similar to rings from the Marvel dude. My friend gave me a bucket cap. “You are on native land.”

Which piece of advice did you receive that made a difference in your life?

“Don’t worry about it.”
